Quick update to let you all know what’s going on while we still have Internet:
So we weren’t able to get a travel trailer at Camping World and if we’re going to get aid from Red Cross and Tzu Chi we need to leave the shelter today, but a Kossack has offered to let us stay at her house for a while, and we’ll be hitting Craigslist once the GoFundMe campaigns go through in 3-5 days [UPDATE] Mrs tells me that she has been been notified that the GoFundMe account will be available on the 28th to get some kind of trailer there. No idea what we can do with the car.
We need to spend a few more days getting our stuff into storage here, and at some point we’ll have to come back and get the stuff so we don’t see it on an episode of Storage Wars, but apparently the community is putting pressure on the Red Cross to close the shelter because they want their community center and emergency equipment back and the people still stuck here can go fuck themselves #RidgecrestStrong.
So we’re effectively homeless for a while. We have limited Internet so I don’t know how much we can keep in touch. We’ve yet to see any form of federal or even state assistance, and after today we’re not likely to. However, it looks like you all will get us a temporary place to stay and possibly even enough for a trailer, with which we can move to an RV park in Lake Isabella.
I guess I should be grateful that the Republicans aren’t putting us in a camp yet.
